What is Laser Hair Removal?
Laser hair removal is a process that uses a beam of concentrated light that is absorbed by the melanin within the hair follicle. The light destroys the follicle resulting in inhibited or delayed hair growth.
Treatment Preparation
- 4 weeks before: Avoid waxing, tweezing, or threading the area to be treated
- 2 weeks before: avoid sun exposure and wear sunscreen
- 1 week before: discontinue use of retinol, AHA’s, and BHA’s (if treating the face, lip, chin, jawline, or neck)
- The day before/day of: closely shave the area to be treated
*Patients taking antibiotics should not be treated with a laser as it causes the skin to be photosensitive.
